Areas of Accomplishment:
Computer Skills
• Familiar with Windows 95/98/NT 4/2000/XP, SuSE Linux 8.1/8.2. • Have built six computers in different hardware and software configurations, and have fixed both hardware and software problems in innumerable others. • Limited networking experience in both Windows and Linux, having built a network capable of providing an internet connection to a maximum of 18 computers with my current networking hardware. • Familiar with popular software suites including Microsoft Office 97/2000/XP, OpenOffice, web browsers including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera, Konqueror and Galleon, with the ability to quickly learn new software as necessary.
Customer Service
• Received Gold Star for customer service at Kuafmann’s Department Store. • Communicate well with persons of many different backgrounds to provide them any assistance they require. • Possess good phone skills, and am capable of troubleshooting many problems over the phone.
Leadership
• Editor of high school newspaper, The Seminarian, winner of numerous awards including Second Place Extracurricular Newspaper in the Kent State University Press Day. • Squad leader in high school marching band, and member of the 2001 Ohio Music Education Association District V Honors Band.
Work Experience:
Sales Associate at Kaufmann’s Department Store in the Southern Park Mall in Boardman, Ohio, seasonally the past two years
Additionally, I worked for my neighbor producing spreadsheets and other documents, as well as providing computer technical support and teaching him to use Microsoft Excel and other programs. The spreadsheets were sent to his clients and accuracy was essential. I worked for him approximately five years, until I moved to Ohio State, and occasionally since then.
Education:
Currently a Junior at The Ohio State University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering.
